BIO - THE FORMATIVE YEARS 93-99

Like the song by legendary rock band AC/DC says, "...it's a long way to the top if you wanna rock'n'roll..."

In 1993, living in the attic of their family farmhouse in rural Victoria, Australia, two brothers decided to start a band. Moving to Melbourne in '94 they soon formed what would become an unbreakable bond with an aspiring young guitarist by the name of Ben Carey. Fluctuations in the band lineup continued through the next few years, working with several different drummers and keyboard players.

The core, however, remained constant as the three continued to sharpen their writing and performing skills both within the group and externally. Aaron and Ben enjoyed success individually over the next few years.

Word was getting around that Australian megastar recording artist John Farnham was looking for songs for a new studio album. A simple piano/vocal demo of a song called "Don't Let It End", written by Aaron, was delivered to Farnham's office. The tape was dropped in a box with a pile of other unsolicited music knowing that artists typically never even see the tapes, let alone listen to them. Little more than six weeks later, while driving a delivery van early one morning, Aaron received a call on his mobile phone from Farnham himself. John told Aaron that he had just listened to the song, loved it and was considering recording it for the new record. The song eventually made the cut and was included on the multi-platinum record "Romeo's Heart" the following year.

Meanwhile after a secret audition with drummer friend Karl Lewis in Brisbane, Australia, Ben was asked to join the newly formed Savage Garden Band. The Australian duo were riding high on a wave of success at home and were on the brink of their first US number one hit and world tour. He joined as lead guitarist and would travel on and off with them for the next 6 years.

Although being separated by thousands of miles created challenges in working together, Aaron, Russ and Ben still dreamed of having their own band and one day playing their songs to fans all over the world. They recorded demos when Ben was able to fly home from touring. Using new international contacts Ben was able to make on the road, the band began to feel ready to move to the next stage. Approaching major labels in the US.
