The making of U 2003-04 (cont.)

In mid july the band and Rob went into the famous Studio A at Henson Recording Studio's in LA (home for a time to the likes of U2 and The Rolling Stones). Rob was able to strike a deal with Studio manager Ron Rutledge and after selling some drums and a guitar, the band had enough money for two days. Basic track's for 11 songs were layed down in those two days.

Over the next two months overdubs were done either at Aaron's home or at Henson and by late September the record was ready to be mixed. There was just one problem...how to pay for that. They had got this far on faith and after some brainstorming the band decided to put on a special show to raise money to mix the record. The night was a huge success, raising several thousand dollars to pay for mixing. By pulling some strings Rob was able to book a week at Scream Mixing studio's in Studio City, LA(previous clients include Nirvana, Rage against the Machine, Alanis Morissete and U2 etc..)

The record was mixed and finally mastered with the financial support of close friends and believers. Almost 5 years after arriving in America, Aaron, Ben and Russ had finally achieved their dream of making a record that they could be proud of.

The band had overcome many obstacles and without record company support had crafted a world class record. In October Russ returned to Australia. Without him they could not call themselves a band. It had become continually harder for Russ to travel back and forth, both financially and emotionally. A chapter spanning ten years had finally closed but the three kids that began this adventure together had acheived their dream. The record was complete and will stand as testimony to the blood, sweat, the tears and determination that went into making it.

Svend is busy working and touring with other artists. Ocianic would like to thank him for putting his heart into making this record and wish him all the success and happiness in the future.

Stay tuned as OCIANIC write the next chapter in their adventure......
